President's Message - December, 2010

Dear LHIA Members, residents & friends,

First I would like to thank the Rio Vista folks who have invited us to share their December newsletter. We need to be back in print again and Lauderdale Harbors is pleased to be a part of your publication and I surely also hope this will help out our dear friend George Mihaiu as well! We all love George because he has done such a wonderful job in publishing our Lauderdale Harbors newsletter, "THE HARBORS", however, due to economic times and the downturn in advertising revenue, our little neighborhood fell victim to the times. So here we are, a part of something larger than ourselves! We are excited about partnering with Rio Vista, and thanks for including us!

Did anyone notice the article appearing in the Wednesday, November 17 Local section of the Sun Sentinel? There is exciting news out! You can now recycle your Styrofoam. A local company, Edge Logistics Group, located near the Festival Flea Market has the capability to recycle all Styrofoam. Recycle Tech then purchases the melted material and manufactures it for new uses such as molding and baseboards. Yipiee! Don't want to drive all that way after you unwrap that new TV, Holiday gifts, toys, & appliances? No problem, I have several friends and business who make regular trips, just drop it off at my house, and we will take it for you. Also, if you are a business, and want to reduce your solid waste cost, by bringing your polystyrene directly to him, contact Keith Haag at Edge Logistics Group.

Many Thanks to all who participated in the LHIA Holiday Party.

Special thanks goes out to Pam Barlow and Chuck Bortell for their tireless work in delivering the flyers, setting up, the breakdown, and cleanup work. Great job! Also, please thank your brother Chris for us too, Pam, he not only donated his time, but his brawn, and his chairs and tables.

Thanks to past board member, Richard Heidelberger for the 3 6' long tables for the food.

Many thanks to you, Suzie, we missed you, and hope your niece's wedding was fantastic, we really appreciate your driveway, yard, and electricity you donated.

Jon Pearson was a hard worker in the setup and break down department too, he also picked up the keg of beer from the Southport Raw Bar and dropped it off that evening, and picked up the tables from Best Rental and dropped them off on Monday morning. Thanks Jon!

Thanks also to our Secretary, Chelsea Krebbs, you did a great job of delivering the flyers to all the 3 finger isles, and you made a great spinach dip, and you and your Mum, Julie, helped so much with the clean up. Louise Whitcombe also delivered flyers.

Thanks to Kevin Hall for the Christmas music!

This year's party was really done on a budget, it all came in under $160.00.

Happy Holidays to everyone!
- Browne
